Self-Care Workshop
A hands-on workshop that moves self-care from concept to practice
through conversation, reflection, and making something that's entirely your own.

About
Self-Care Workshop
is a single-session course that takes the idea of self-care seriously enough to do something with it. Starting with an honest conversation about what self-care actually means — beyond the bubble baths and productivity hacks — participants explore the Self-Care Wheel, a framework that covers the full range of human needs: physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, professional, and personal. The goal isn't to prescribe what self-care should look like. It's to help each participant figure out what it looks like for them.
The heart of the workshop is a self-care collage — a mindful, hands-on activity where participants gather images, words, and textures that speak to what brings them joy, what energises them, and what helps them keep going without burning out. It's part reflection, part making, part permission — to take up space, to name what you need, and to leave with something real.

Who this course was designed for
Self-Care Workshop was designed for anyone who knows they should be taking better care of themselves — but hasn't quite figured out what that looks like in practice.
-
Youths and young adults navigating the pressures of school, work, and everything in between
-
Anyone in a caregiving or helping role — volunteers, youth workers, counsellors-in-training — who gives a lot to others and needs to tend to themselves too
-
Anyone curious about self-care who wants to move beyond the concept and into something more personal and concrete
If you're not sure what self-care even looks like for you, that's the most important reason to come.
How Self-Care Workshop Began
Most of us know we should be taking better care of ourselves. Fewer of us actually do — not because we don't want to, but because we're too tired to figure out how.
Self-Care Workshop grew from a collaboration with Break The Wheel — a segment in a larger workshop that kept resonating long after the session ended. What was designed as one part of something bigger turned out to have enough life in it to stand alone. So it did.
The workshop found its heart in a simple but surprisingly powerful activity: making a collage. Not as a craft project, but as a way of slowing down long enough to ask — what actually brings me joy? What fills me up instead of draining me? What does taking care of myself look like, for me specifically? For people who are tired — and most of us are — those questions are worth a whole workshop on their own.

What this course sets out to do
Self-Care Workshop is designed to move participants from knowing they should take care of themselves — to actually knowing how.
-
Build a working understanding of what self-care means across the full range of human needs — physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, professional, and personal
-
Identify what self-care looks like specifically for you — not a generic list, but something personal and sustainable
-
Practice self-care as an act of making — through a guided collage activity that turns reflection into something tangible
-
Leave with a concrete, visual reminder of what fills you up — something to return to when life gets busy again

What Happens in the Workshop
In a single session, participants move through a gentle sequence — opening with an honest conversation about what self-care actually means, exploring the Self-Care Wheel as a framework for understanding the full range of human needs, and then settling into the heart of the workshop: creating a personal self-care collage guided by prompts about joy, energy, and sustainability.
The session closes with a gallery walk and a shared reflection — leaving participants with something visual, personal, and theirs to keep. Come with an open mind and whatever materials speak to you — magazines, stickers, scissors, washi tape. The more you bring, the more you have to work with.
What to expect:
A hands-on space
come ready to make something — bring magazines, stickers, scissors, or anything that sparks joy for you
A space designed for real conversations
not just polite ones — about what self-care actually looks like when life is full and energy is low
Light refreshment
because taking care of yourself starts the moment you walk in
